new scene: Javier and Darcy

Darcy made it back to the moon alive, and she says she’s OK, but being held in the PK detention facility – and then thinking that her ship wasn’t going to make it back to Aristillus – may have taken a toll.

== 2064: Boardroom Group Headquarters in Tunnel 1,288, Aristillus, Lunar Nearside

Darcy shook her head. “No, I’m fine.”

Javier looked at her apraisingly. “You’re sure?”

“Aside from worrying about were the snatch team has got Mike caged, I’m OK. Let’s drop this – and move on to other topics.”

Javier thought for a moment, then nodded. “OK. Now in the next meeting there are two things that we need to prepare for -”

Darcy cut him off. “We’ll get to that, but I want to talk about something that’s not on the agenda.”

“What’s that?”

“The interrogation videos.”

Javier looked at her. “What interrogation videos?”

Darcy looked back at him. “From Nan Garde.” She paused. Javier looked confused. “Do you not know about this?”

“No, what?”

“They kept me – well, everyone from the Poyekhali and from the other ships – up on upper top levels of the prison. We weren’t well treated -” Darcy drifted off for a moment, then shook her head. “Well, anyway. Prisoners on their ‘Special Information List’ were kept in the secret floors. And THOSE prisoners were really treated badly. Interrogated.” She spat the word, then fell silent again.

Javier leaned forward. “Yes?”

“Ponzie – the others -“. She shook her head.

Javier was concerned, but was at a loss as to what he should say. “Do you want to come back to this later?”

Darcy shook her head, took a deep breath, and continued. “There were torture sessions. We could hear them from our cells, sometimes.” She closed her eyes for a moment. “But John’s men found the video. They bastards recorded it. All of it. The waterboarding. The humiliations. The sexual abuse. They found the drive and they made sure it went on the Deladrier.” She took another deep breath. “We need to make sure that that video gets out.”

Javier nodded seriously. “I know just the person.” He took out his phone. “Are you ready to talk to someone about this?”

Darcy nodded.

Javier dialed Selena.
